American Water Spaniels will
vote in August
Every sporting dog parent club in the AKC needs to be classified
as one of three types of breeds for running hunt tests: retrievers,
spaniels or pointers. Lacking the classification that breed of
dog can run in none of the three types of hunt tests.
As with anything any time you get two people together seems like
you get three opinions. So for years there has been debate as
to whether the AWS should be classified as a spaniel or retriever
for purposes of running hunt tests. To date there has not been
agreement. But that may change in August.
It is expected that the American Water Spaniel Club will vote
to be classified as a spaniel type of dog so they can run in
the spaniel hunt tests.
This is a great thing to get more people and dogs involved in
the hunt tests program.

French Brittany Recognized
The National Bird Dog Museum and Hall of Fame in Tennessee has
added the French Brittany as a breed and has set aside an area
for the display of French Brittany art. This summer the club's
President Bill Dillon traveled to Grand Junction and met with
Gary Lockee to present the museum with a beautiful wall hanging
on behalf of the club and the Epagneul Breton. The museum has
been carrying this club's magazine for the last few years and
you can find a copy of each publication in their library.
